Ferragudo

Ferragudo

It is said that Ferragudo is not a place to be visited, but a place to be lived. At night, lit by colors and at first sight, the feeling of an ideal place to relax. The location and the nature of its contour, makes Ferragudo an excellent starting point to discover the beauty of an unknown region. Ferragudo hasn't grown much since the 16th century and that's why it kept the simplicity of its whitewashed houses and winding roads, inspired by the Moors. The old walls of the 15th century watchtower no longer exist, but the old São João Fort, built in the 17th century and rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake, is in good condition and although it is no longer used as a baton defense, since then, has had several uses, being today a literary salon.
