Angrinha Beach

Angrinha Beach

Praia da Angrinha is located in the estuary of the Rio Arade, close to Ferragudo, Lagoa municipality. The main access to the sand is aligned with the opening of the great jetties of the Arade, with a profusion of masts and white triangles next to the jetty at Portimão. The beach is wide, framed by a line of cliffs that are very worn and corroded by the elements. The rocky walls are covered with a lot of vegetation, especially plants adapted to salsugas such as soda and salt, or plants typical of the dunes, such as clover, which colonize the small rocky cavities where sand accumulates. North of the São João do Arade Fort, which together with the Santa Catarina Fortress, on the other bank of the river, guaranteed the defense of the estuary, where the Angrinha beach arises, whose configuration changes with the mouth of the river that there flows. This is a small beach that has a fishing tradition, which overlooks white balconies on the east bank of the River Arade.
